Regardless of how well you know the rules or how conservatively you sail there is still a high likelihood that you will end up in the Protest Room at some time during your sailing career.
If there is an incident on the water, competitors submit a completed Protest Form to the race committee within the designated time-frame.
Like the racing itself, protests are determined based on the Racing Rules of Sailing. You can find Australian Sailing’s online version of the Racing Rules of Sailing on their website.
You can read this article by Sailing World to learn more about the protest hearing process and how you can prepare yourself for what may come.
