In recent months the club has received an increased number of reports from marina users, Club members and sailors around the increased frequency and severity of surge events associated with marine traffic movements in front of the Club.
In order to quantify the frequency, severity, impact and cause of these events it has been agreed at a recent Hobsons Bay stakeholder meeting that all marine operators collect reports from their own members / customers. The goal being to gather a database that can support our assertion that steps need to be taken by various agencies to protect the marine infrastructure that supports the Hobsons Bay Maritime precinct.
Should you witness a surge event then please take the time to record it on the report form. See: Wave Surge Report Form (PDF). The Completed form needs to be emailed to Jeska Dee at Parks Victoria.
If there has been damage to your boat, or an injury then please also complete and submit a Marine Safety Victoria report which can be downloaded here. MSV have made it clear that they need to receive reports before they can take any action, so please do take the time to complete a report in the case of injury or near miss and where damage has occurred.
