Testimonials
For over ten years now Catholic Regional College North Keilor has been participating in three different programs at the Royal Yacht Club under the watchful eye of Chief instructor Mr Ian Fox. Over this time, the staff have never failed to impress me and our students in the way they have executed the various programs.
The three activities facilitated by ‘The Royal’ include the following:
- Our Year 10 students that choose the Semester long “Sports & Recreation” elective spend ALL of Term one “Learning to Sail” with the end goal being to sail from Williamstown to Port Melbourne by the last session.
- Our Year 8’s, Our Year 10 School Captain’s Induction Program and Our Year 10 “Sports & Recreation” Semester 2 program have the staff at the Royal take our students through a “Try Sailing” session. This is normally of two hours duration and whilst the activity is obviously at the mercy of the weather, the staff at The Royal always tend to make our students hungry for more time on the water, &
- Finally, our Year 8’s, Year 10 School Captain’s and our Year 10 “Sport & Recreation” Semester 2 elective participants, all have an opportunity to participate in a “Power Boating” session where the students are divided into small groups and placed into a safety boat and taken for a spin around the bay. The students are given an opportunity to take command of the vessel for approximately 20 minutes and the thrill and excitement evident on our students faces is simply priceless! Again, this activity is at the mercy of the weather, but the adrenalin rush most certainly has our students pleading for more.
I am thrilled by the level of service, unique experience and tremendous opportunity offered by “The Royal Yacht Club” to our school. I am impressed by the level of professionalism showed by the staff in the execution of their duty and the care and attention given to our students. I have no hesitation in recommending this facility and any or all the activities mentioned above to any school looking for something different to introduce to their students.
