The clubhouse of the Royal Yacht Club of Victoria was built in 1972 after the original building was raised to the ground by a devastating fire. The Club is situated on Williamstown’s spectacular heritage waterfront, looking out across the lawn and marina towards the city of Melbourne. Our magnificent view of the city skyline is second to none.

Inside features include a dining room, bar, library and committee room. Outside an undercover deck joins the clubhouse with a large grass area and undercover BBQ facilities. The clubhouse has male and female change rooms with showers, with additional bathroom facilities provided on the eastern hardstand.

Various areas of the clubhouse are available for private functions for both members and non-members alike.

You can view the opening hours for the clubhouse on our website. The opening hours may vary between summer and winter and are subject to change.

Dining Room

The dining room is the largest room in the Club, central to clubhouse operations. Most major Cub social events are held in the dining room which can comfortably accommodate up to 100 people in one sitting.

Our dining room has recently been revitalised, incorporating modern furniture and fittings, whilst maintaining traditional elements and a display of awards and trophies that highlight the yachting skills of our Members. The dining room features an acoustic plasterboard ceiling, modern lighting with dimmable power-saving globes and parquetry flooring.

The ambiance of the dining room is enhanced by the open log fire in the winter months, where you will find many of our Members and their guests sipping a glass of wine, admiring its glow and sharing tales of their sailing adventures.

Our new kitchen team provides delightful, seasonal meals using only fresh and sustainable ingredients.

Bookings can be made by contacting the office on (03) 9397 1277  or by email at bookings@rycv.asn.au

Bar

The bar is at the heart of the social scene at Royals, where you can enjoy a drink with your fellow members and wind down after the day’s racing. Beverages offered at the bar include a premium selection of sustainably produced house wines, beer and craft beer, cider and spirits along with soft drinks, juices, tea and coffee.

A dress code policy applies to both Members and guests, and staff have the right to refuse service if this policy or the regular liquor licencing regulations are not adhered to. In further accordance with the Liquor Licencing regulations, please make purchases of all your alcoholic beverages from the Bar.

Decking, Lawn and BBQ

Warm summer days are the perfect opportunity to make the most of our covered outdoor decking and unique lawn area as well as our magnificent view of the Melbourne city skyline. The decking can also be enclosed and heated making it usable on those cooler, rainy days.

The adjoining decking is regularly used as an extension to our dining room and bar, with wide doorways providing members and guests with the ability to roam freely between the three areas or more room to simply sit back and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere.

Along with extra seating on the lawn there is an undercover BBQ area which is available for Members’ use at any time. The availability of the BBQs and the lawn make the Club a perfect place for family picnics and get-togethers. Please remember to bring your own utensils as the Club cannot provide any spares.
