PMYC Lipton 2018 Report

This year the OTB Regatta was held by Port Melbourne Yacht Club on the waters between Station and Kerferd Road Piers. Entries totaled 60 boats in 14 classes including 27 International Cadets.
Race 1 was held in a 15-20 knot southerly which reduced the number of starters resulting in 38 finishers across 6 divisions including 20 Cadets. The sea state was extremely lumpy testing both sailors and the race management team.

As the wind continued to strengthen, race 2 again saw a reduced fleet with 22 boats finishing including 12 Cadets. Due to the wind conditions and sea state, the third race was abandoned with overall results being based on the two races run.

Prizes were presented at Port Melbourne Yacht Club later that afternoon after a sausage sizzle. Paige Butcher along with Jane Richards from RYCV attended the Club presenting trophies to the winners.

All sailors and the on water team slept well that night after a challenging afternoon.
Thanks go to all entrants who participated on the day, the race management volunteers and those who catered for the presentation.
